Oliver Kite – Master Flyfisherman

We’re huge fans of Oliver Kite, an English sportsman who broadcast a literate Fly Fishing show in England during the 60′s. Whenever we discover a forgotten episode, we like to share. As style mavens we are always interested in the classic English looks of the day.

Enjoy!

How to dress for a funeral by eHow

Men’s Funeral Etiquette Dress Attire
By Jennifer Brister, eHow Contributor

Funeral attire
Dressing for a funeral is unlike dressing for any other occasion. At a funeral, you are dressing out of respect for the deceased and the family of the deceased. You should dress in a manner that shows respect for those who are suffering. Your attire is a representation of your grief and the grief of those who have suffered the loss.

Significance
The significance of dark funeral attire is to show your grief for the one who was lost. Tradition requires that those who are grieving wear dark or black clothing to represent their grief. Bright colors worn to a funeral are a sign of disrespect to the deceased and the family.

Suit
Men’s funeral attire generally consists of a black or other dark suit and tie. The suit, vest and jacket should all be matching and the tie should be a neutral or dark color. If you do not own a suit, you can wear dark dress pants, a dress shirt and a dark jacket.

Adjustments
Depending on the time of year and whether the funeral service is outside, you might need to adjust your attire for the funeral. If the weather is hot, it is appropriate to wear a short-sleeved dress shirt under your suit. If the weather is cold, is is appropriate to wear a dark dress coat over the suit.

Gathering
Some families like to gather at a person’s home after the funeral. If you will be attending a gathering such as this, you can remove your jacket when you enter the home.

Other Considerations
Shower and shave before the funeral, so you appear fresh and clean. Polish your dress shoes, and wear dark dress socks.

Destination – Summer 2012

One state I haven’t fished in but have always wanted to is New Mexico. As of today, the decision has been made that the Summer of 2012 will be the time when I break the Enchanted State dry spell. One spot that has always intrigued me, from reading about and listening to podcasts, is the Valle Vidal section of the Rio Costilla River in  Northern New Mexico. At 9500′, it’s a high meadow stream flowing through a protected and pristine wilderness. Sounds perfect!

As luck would have it, I recently had dinner with someone who fished the Rio Costilla las July and was more than willing to give me free advise and information. Of importance, where to stay? Upon his glowing recommendation, I am now investigating the MW Bar Ranch near Amalia New Mexico.

Happy Trails!
